Keep your bandage on for 24hrs. After 24 hrs, remove your bandage and gently wash with anti-bacterial soap. Pat dry with clean towel. Apply Aquaphor. Note that it is normal for there to be some color/ink residue when your bandage is on.
For the next 2-3 days, apply Aquaphor 2-3 times a day as needed. Avoid letting water run directly on the tattoo while showering. Gently wash and Pat Dry. Re-apply ointment.
After the first four days, you no longer need to wash the tattoo. Apply ointment as needed or whenever dry. It is normal for thin flakes of color to be coming off at this stage. Allow them to do so naturally. Do not pick any scabs or flakes.
At this point, you can start applying your own lotion to the area. Still keep your tattoo from getting too wet and continue to avoid baths or hot tubs. After showering, pat dry. It’s normal for the area to be itchy. Try not to scratch and avoid tight clothing that may rub on the tattoo. Keep your tattoo out of the sun.
